Rolling out version 0.7

It's been a little while since the last release and I have been hard at work at improving the general experience flying GEFS. As the number of users and the complexity of the planes grow, I had to spend some time doing optimization to make sure things keep running smooth. Here is a list of changes in this new version.

- more realistic flight model based on thin airfoil theory (aka. lifting-line theory)
- adjusted all aircraft configuration for a more realistic behavior
- introduction of the "time slider" to set time of the day (enable it from the Weather Option panel)
- added Airbus A380
- added Sukhoi Su-35
- added attitude indicator
- multiplayer has been rewritten (performance) (Reverted: needs more tweaking)

- 3D scene-graph has been rewritten (performance)
- new hosting
- new default airport: LAX
- bug fixes

Have a nice flight!

Xavier.

excellent simulator, could include: lights, landing ..., meteorological factors, rain, snow ... , that time passes, it gets dark, dawn ...

thanks for the simulator :)))))

Awesome I thought you were only adding the a380 but and su-35 next time you should put an sr-71 in great work

Anonymous said...

It can go dark and dawn depends on if your flying towards where the sun is or not.

Xavier,
so we have got a supersonic plane now so next can you add an Aurora Scram jet coz its hypersonic also i still think a sonic boom wud be a good idea

i think the helicopter is easier to fly with the mouse i flew over lax for like a minute and a half the lost control and crashed

thanks for changing the name of ayers rock to uluru

There is the confusion of the information about the lower deck door and windows of A380, should be D12D21D15D10D. When I put num lock+4/6 to see both side on play, it shows D12D21D8D4(gap)8D. It's very strange. Anyway I love the 380s.

Xavier: what is your call sign when you are flying

@Azza: most of the time I fly as "Xavier". When I am testing multiplayer, you may see, lost in the middle of nowhere, a few "Firefox", "IE", "Chrome" flying around "Xavier" ;)

Thanks ill look out for you except my multiplayer hasn't been working well lately

Anonymous said...

if you add reverse thrust that can double as a push back also when will you be adding it if you can

im having trouble getting this loaded..I have FF 5 and google earth plugin installed..help?

Anonymous said...

there is a spelling error in the home page it says you can enjoy GEFS quickly, directly from YOU web browser shouldn't it say YOUR.

Anonymous said...

you should make it more like the real fsx. Add a real atc and auto pilot

Anonymous said...

I agree also it should have engine failures and fire when you crash rather than that stupid pop up window that says You've Crashed

Anonymous said...

AUTO PILOT!
could you also put more gages and inside the cockpit!could you add a dash-8 and an atr-72 and a737 and 747

Anonymous said...

what is attitude indecator?

Anonymous said...

auto pilot! come on we all want autopilot please. but great job

Anonymous said...

its meant to be the experience of flying a plane with out systems like that but i say screw it my arm gets sore from trying to keep the mouse in the same place

Anonymous said...

glass instruments for the hud

Anonymous said...

Auto Poilot would be amazing!

Anonymous said...

Is it possible to make it so that you can turn on some plane lights if you're using the night time/day time feature and are flying at night?

Anonymous said...

yeah great idea also in the night the windows on the A380 should light up

you should put more commercial airplanes and an option to choose an airline like american airlines or delta or air canada.

Anonymous said...

please put antonov 225 mriya

Anonymous said...

So Xavier can you please put some commercial planes and the option that can let you choose an airline

Anonymous said...

you guys should add more aircraft. both civilian and military

Anonymous said...

Autopilot.

Or at least a key to set level flight.

If you decide to 'fix' the way the planes don't crash into water but go underwater, please make it a switchable option. Flying a slow aircraft around the deep trenches is a very good and fun way of exploring what the undersea terrain is actually like!

If you are modelling a 'standard' atmosphere out to above 100km altitude, would be a lot of fun to provide an (imaginary) aircraft based on something slow - like the cessna, with an engine that doesn't de-rate with increasing altitude - such a craft can eventually be flown into orbit, and it can be very entertaining 'flying' between 150K and 400K feet where flight is part ballistic as well as aerodynamic. Add some vernier rockets to allow control at extreme altitudes, and we can play with orbits and sub-orbital flights. I used to have a 'simulator' like this and it was very entertaining!

Finally - any chance of an option to display indicated rather than true airspeed?

Anonymous said...

So you could have real atc, autopilot and gauges inside of the cockpit

Anonymous said...

Xavier,There is a group in 3d warehouse which has airline liveries.

Anonymous said...

they have that

Anonymous said...

is there auto pilot and if there is how dose it work
